SHIP Members – Wellness Exams Received Outside of Harvard University Health Services (HUHS)
For those ages 18 and older enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), your yearly wellness exam is required to be with your HUHS primary care physician team and through your Student Health Fee benefit. If you are an enrolled SHIP member who visits an in-network Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA (BCBSMA) provider outside of HUHS for a wellness exam, the claim for this service will be denied, and you will receive a bill for the cost of care. If you receive a billing statement from the provider’s office or facility, you can contact HUSHP Member Services at (617) 495-2008 or mservices@huhs.harvard.edu. Our office can guide you through the process of requesting a benefit exception, which will be honored if the wellness exam is provided by a BCBSMA in-network (contracted) provider.
