Recognized student groups in good standing with the Office for Student Life may apply to present events in Lowell Lecture Hall via a semesterly application process. Applications are accepted in April for the fall term and November for the spring term. More information.

NOTES:

  • Lowell Lecture Hall’s main hall is scheduled by the FAS Registrar’s Office during term time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 3pm. Event scheduling is not considered during these times.
  • Lowell Lecture Hall is used for standing weekly rehearsals for both faculty-conducted and student led groups Monday through Thursday (afternoon and evening), Saturday mornings, and all day on Sunday. Though time is limited, requests for rehearsals and tech time from student groups with upcoming events may be considered. Email memhall@fas.harvard.edu with inquiries about availability. (Lowell Lecture Hall’s main hall must be arranged directly with Memorial Hall staff; the room is not available on Roombook.)
  • Classrooms in the lower level of Lowell Lecture Hall (B11, B12, B13, B14 and B15) are reserved as support space whenever events are scheduled in Lowell Lecture Hall’s main hall.
  • Lowell Lecture Hall’s main hall capacity is 352, with 190 on the main level and 162 in the balcony
  • The stage area is approximately 47′ wide and 36′ deep. This diagram shows the stage area and seating configuration.

Sanders Theatre

Recognized student groups in good standing with the Office for Student Life may submit proposals for events that require an event space as large as Sanders Theatre, provided the space can support the event proposed and the calendar allows. Requests must be received, at minimum, three months in advance. (Note that most prime dates are scheduled in the fall for the following academic year, with faculty conductor requests receiving priority.) Email the program manager with questions and a list of preferred dates. More information about scheduling and event parameters will be shared.

  • Sanders is used for standing weekly rehearsals for faculty-conducted on Monday evenings, and for dress rehearsals specific to an upcoming event as required throughout each term. Email memhall@fas.harvard.edu with inquiries about availability. (Sanders Theatre reservations must be arranged directly with Memorial Hall staff; the room is not available on Roombook.)
  • Classrooms in the lower level of Memorial Hall (028, 029, 030 and 038 [the “Green Room”])) are reserved as support space whenever events are scheduled in Sanders Theatre.
  • Sanders Theatre’s general admission capacity is 1000, with approxiamtely 125 on the orchestra level (wheelchair accessible), 500 on the mezzanine level and 375 in the balcony. Note that the mezzanine and balcony levels are not wheelchair accessible. Also be aware that equipment for recording, filming or AV support in general may otherwise alter the seating capacity and sight lines of certain locations.
  • The stage area is approximately 38′ wide and 19′ deep, not including the permanent risers. This diagram shows the stage area and seating configuration.
  • Fees for use will apply.

Catering

Food and drink is not permitted in Sanders Theatre or Lowell Lecture Hall. Dinners, receptions, and other activity that includes food and drink may not be scheduled in either space. Other areas, including Memorial Hall and Lowell Lecture Hall lower level classrooms, may support casual food and drink. Talk to us about specifics if a larger scale catered event is desired. Some spaces, including the Memorial Hall Transept (also known as the Sanders Theatre lobby area), require the catering services of Harvard’s Crimson Catering, 617.496.6000
